Being an Effective Governor

This session serves as an introduction for new governors, or a refresher for existing governors - discussing the key points of effective governance.

It includes:

  • Harris Federation and its academies:  how the relationship between Head Office and AGBs promotes supports effective governance? 
  • The Department for Education Competency Framework for Governance and the Ofsted Inspection Handbook section on the role of governors. 
  • Key elements of the Governor role: supporting and challenging the academy, managing visits
